Coming from different parts of the World, Destiny and Drew McGrail, Miguel Pumarol and Eduardo Chuffa make-up Prasonga. They have been brought together by some cosmic force for this unique opportunity to create a band -a new musical sound. Influences from the Caribbean, South American, African, gospel, soul and American mountain music shape our sound into what you hear today. It's our goal to bring to you the sound of World Music, a positive message of hope by raising vibration and conscious awareness through deep rhythmic grooves, thoughtful message and transcendental improvisations!
Growing up immersed in a charismatic church setting, Destiny was surrounded by music. Her parents realized that she was musically inclined at an early age and she began piano lessons at the age of 7. After being classically trained for 6 years, her teacher realized that she preferred playing by ear and would often add her own ideas to the compositions. By learning a more spirit led musical approach, she soon found herself playing piano and singing in church band gatherings. Her love of harmonies and transcendental improvisations was born. By expanding her mind, she was able to unlock the poet inside. Writing was a safe place to express her true feelings and to realize her unique voice. In the fall of 2020, Destiny and Drew began a songwriting journey that led to the creation of a large body of original music. The great pause in the world allowed them to be still, heal and breathe into this new experience. Through this healing she found her true voice and the courage to share her message with the world. The idea of medicine music that brings conscious awareness, love and hope is her sacred cornerstone. Prasonga was born in July 2021. A collaboration of musicians with the goal to spread love and light healing energy through music.
Raised in a small town in the Southern Missouri, Drew grew up with the natural world all around him. His Mother was from a family with deep roots and a farm dating back to the homestead act giving Drew a deep sense of the past, traditions and our ancestry. Drew's Father came from a military family that lived all around the world giving him respect and empathy for other cultures and customs. Access to his Father's epic record collection dating back to the 1960s is what started his affair with music at a young age. Drew was encouraged to engage in all the musical pursuits available and began to both take formal musical training in school, private lessons and form rock and folk bands with friends. Drew spent his Teen years studying songwriting, music theory and learning about the music business through a few excellent mentors, as well as playing live shows on a regular basis in college bars. Through that time he also began to cut his teeth doing studio session work and sound engineering. As he became an adult the musical focus began to be shift to bluegrass- calling back to the musical traditions Appalachia and the Ozarks. Moving to a mountain town in Colorado in his 20s, the connection between world music, mountain music and rock 'n roll started to come into focus as so many local bands there bent the rules to blend these musical styles. Exposure to this musical diversity made Drew believe anything is possible with music, and that people need to dance!
Miguel started this journey through music when he was 15 years old …… He fell in love with percussion and drums. His first super hero on drums was Stewart Copeland of the Police for his original and unique way of playing the instrument. Many doors were opened in his search of music by Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colaiuta, Dennis Chambers and Manu Katche.
Miguel came onto the music scene in his native Dominican Republic with a bang. After some formal training in New York at the Drum Collective, he went home to form some very influential bands. Miguel has been blessed with a Billboard Best Latin Album of the Year in 1998. He moved to NY in 2014 and continued to work with amazing musicians in solo projects and other bands both producing and playing. In 2020 Miguel relocated to Missouri where he met two special Beings- Destiny and Drew.
This was the start of a very original project with people from different places and different backgrounds. Miguel was excited to join this group and feels like he's found a new home and family with Prasonga.
Based in Ballwin – Mo, Eduardo has been playing bass guitar for over 15 years now. It all started out in his hometown in Brazil playing the acoustic guitar, then shortly after he changed to bass guitar. Eduardo was influenced by a family member and bassists that were introduced to him at the time, such as Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller, Geddy Lee and others. His main influences were on the Rock and Hard Rock side. Later he got into more diversified musical styles, many of them were Brazilian music, such as Samba and Bossa Nova. Eduardo started playing in GB bands in Brazil early in his career. That brought a lot of experience in playing different types of music and events. After moving to the US in 2015, Eduardo worked with GB bands in NYC and Boston, as well as played World Music, Blues and Rock with NYC based musicians. While there he received a scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Nowadays his work in music includes recording, music production and performance. He is very excited to be part of this project; to be playing and recording with great musicians from different backgrounds, and playing diverse musical styles with lots of space for creativity.
